Directions to Our Practice
If you’ve never been to our practice before, here are two easy routes you could take:
- Take Hwy 96 east out of Shoreview, then take I-35 south for one exit. Turn right off the off-ramp, then turn right into the first shopping center. We’re located in the strip of shops between Marshalls and Fresh Thyme Market, at 925 Co Rd E East #185.
- Instead, you could take Hodgson Rd south out of town, then turn left onto County Rd F. Turn right onto McMenemy St, then left onto Koehler Rd. Turn right onto Edgerton St, then left onto Koehler Rd. After you pass City Hall, turn left into the shopping center, and you’ll find us a few doors down from Marshalls!
How Much Local History Do You Know?
Prior to the town’s establishment, the Twin Cities metropolitan area was inhabited by the Dakota and Ojibwe tribes. Remnants of their civilizations have been found on Rice Creek around Long Lake and at Lake Wabasso right here in Shoreview.
Shoreview’s history dates back to 1847, when U.S. Deputy Surveyors first surveyed the area. They recorded a gently rolling landscape filled with small oak trees, along with numerous lakes, ponds, and marshes surrounded by aspen and elm. This natural beauty laid the foundation for what would become a thriving community. In February 1850, a St. Paul butcher named Socrates Thompson ventured north in search of farmland and camped overnight on the shore of what he named Pleasant Lake. Although his first land choice had already been claimed, he successfully filed for land near the east shore of a nearby lake he named Turtle Lake — located in present-day Shoreview.
That same spring, Carles Perry purchased 80 acres along the north shore of Lake Johanna and moved there with his family. Throughout the 1850s, settlers from Europe and the eastern United States arrived to establish small farms, drawn by the area’s rich natural resources and promise of opportunity. These early residents laid the groundwork for the vibrant, family-oriented community that Shoreview is today.
